ROBOTIC SURGERY
Robot-assisted Surgery allows extremely accurate procedures to be performed through tiny incisions. Through this minimally invasive technique, the surgeon’s hand movements are scaled by the robot to be incredibly precise. As a result many studies and our considerable experience (Mr McIndoe was one of the first surgeons in the fiel) show that patients recover with less pain, are faster to mobilise, and return to normal daily activities more quickly than with open surgery and often faster than with laparoscopic surgery.

What happens after Robotic Surgery?
Most studies comparing Robotic Surgery with open surgery and also conventional keyhole surgery show that the former are able to leave hospital more quickly and require less pain relief.
Robotic arms move in such a way that no pressure is placed on the “port” or channel going into the abdomen. It is the site of these ports that is a major cause of pain for patients undergoing keyhole surgery. Because Robotic Surgery patients require less pain relief and are able to move around more freely from immediately after surgery — they tend to be ready for discharge in a more timely fashion.
What makes the complication rate lower?
Robotic Surgery enables the surgeon to see extremely well with the advanced optics of the robotic system and move the instruments much more precisely. This in turn lowers complication rate.
